René Backe

René Backe is a member of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes from Wisconsin. With an academic background in elementary education and educational administration and supervision, she was an elementary and junior high teacher and principal for 36 years for several schools in the Midwest. After serving as novice directress for her community, she earned a master’s degree in Christian Spirituality and certificates in spiritual and retreat direction. She did parish ministries in Farmington, New Mexico, served as regional coordinator for her community, and currently serves as delegate for religious and teacher in the Deacon and Lay Ministry Formation Program of the Diocese of Gallup.

Ministry in the Land of Enchantment

As a spiritual director it is a sacred privilege to journey with others in their relationship with God. So it has been a sacred experience to live life in the presence of God in New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment.
