Catholic Relief Services country representative for Zambia Dane Fredenburg has called upon the religious women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) to celebrate their heroic works in the region.
Fredenburg spoke August 20 at Andrew’s Motel during a presentation on transparency, leadership, accountability, financial management and budgeting.
He commended the religious women for their commitment and hard work. He said there was power in meeting together to discuss developmental issues.
“The work that the sisters do is tremendous,” he said. “The opportunity in meeting together these few weeks is to celebrate the work that they do in the church and find ways in which they can talk about what they do.”
Fredenburg reiterated that CRS will continue supporting the sisters involved in hospitals, hospices and those taking care of vulnerable children. He also said that CRS will support the sisters in research, capacity building and other developmental projects.
He said CRS has been working in the ACWECA region for over 10 years.
And speaking at the same occasion, ACWECA chairperson, Sr. Margaret Aringo thanked CRS for empowering the sisters with tools for capacity building. She said this would strengthen their associations and congregations.
Aringo said that she was pleased that CRS was committed to work with the sisters in the ACWEECA region at different levels.
Over 150 delegates in the ACWECA region are gathered for the 16th general assembly in Lusaka from 16 to 29 August.
