Religious women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) have been challenged to put God first in their plans.
Speaking when he celebrated Mass at the 16th ACWECA General Assembly, Fr. Charles Chilinda urged the sisters to carry out Christ’s mission in society today.
Fr. Chilinda said that it was important to have the vision of God in all discussions.
“All your Charisms are nothing without Christ’s mission,” he said. “They only take their character and importance because they are rooted in Christ.”
Fr. Chilinda called upon the sisters not to look for profit but to serve God’s people freely. He advised the sisters not to compare themselves with others.
Fr. Chilinda also urged the superiors general to be good shepherds to the members of their congregations.
“We joined sisterhood so that we could serve God’s people. But somewhere it changes, we become more important than to serve God’s people,” he said. “We are called to participate in doing God’s will.”
