In the same year that the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ are marking the 150th anniversary of their congregation in the United States, they learned that their founder, Blessed Catherine Kasper, is to be canonized Oct. 14 at the Vatican. In March, Srs. Connie Bach and Michele Dvorak of the Poor Handmaids in Donaldson, Indiana, spoke with A Nun's Life Ministry about the German-born Kasper's spiritual legacy of courage and practical action. "We say that no gift is too small. It comes from one of her quotes that everything done for God is great; nothing that is done in God's name is small."
