June is LGBT Pride Month, a commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall riots – demonstrations that followed a police raid on a popular gay bar in New York City called the Stonewall Inn. The Stonewall riots are largely considered to be a major turning point in the gay civil rights movement, although gay rights remain a divisive issue, as evidenced by the same-sex marriage case currently before the Supreme Court.
As I reported in April, most Catholics support same-sex marriage, but what about their support of gay clergy? See the graphic below to find out Catholics told the Public Religion Research Institute in 2013, then check out this map from CBC news showing where in the world homosexuality is a crime.
