"i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes"
- E.E. Cummings, from "i thank You God for most this amazing"
September 16 is International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, established in 1994 to commemorate the 1987 resolution signing of the Montreal Protocol, which brought attention to limiting the production and consumption of CFCs and other ozone-depleting substances. It is a partial success story, since substitutes for CFCs tend to be HFCs, hydrofluorocarbons, which are greenhouse gases.
