The Catholic Sisters Walking with Migrants program is now accepting applications for the September and October cohorts. This program is sponsored by Kino Border Initiative and funded through the Hilton foundation.
Catholic sisters are invited to accompany people in their migration journey through Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. For a month you will live in community with other sisters and serve the immediate needs of people arriving at the Kino migrant aid center (food, clothing, intake interviews, sorting donations, and other needs as they arise). You'll also participate in spiritual reflection, immersion educational activities, and training in effective advocacy and narrative change.
Airfare, transportation, housing and food are provided, as well as a nominal stipend. Requirements include the ability to walk up and down stairs, stand on your feet and/or walk for moderate periods of time, and reside in Mexico. Highly recommended for sisters who have some ability to speak Spanish, have served in Latinx/Hispanic communities and/or served in a Latin American country.
