With great joy, the Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph announce the election of a new leadership team who will take office on August 6 of this year and serve until the year 2028. The newly elected team is a group of diversely talented women who are deeply committed to furthering the congregation’s mission of unity, inclusivity, and mutuality in today’s world.
The election took place on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the conclusion of the congregation’s weeklong Chapter meeting in Chicago. The sisters elected are Sisters Kathy Brazda, CSJ (Chicago, IL), Marie Hogan, CSJ (Detroit, MI), Sue Torgersen, CSJ (Cottage Grove, MN), Helen Skormisley, CSJ (Fairmont, WV), and Pat Warbritton, CSJ (Kalamazoo, MI).
In addition to the election, sisters spent time discussing the current reality of religious life, re-committing themselves to their mission of unity, and intentionally exploring the meaning of consecrated life and its gift to the Church and world. The Congregation further committed to deepen its commitment to integral ecology and ecological justice, anti-racism efforts, LGBTQ+ support, and immigration reform. They further affirmed a commitment to the healing and transformational journey toward interculturality, embracing the spirit of synodality.
