Lola Wolf, an alumna of Saint Benedict’s High School and the College of Saint Benedict, will perform an organ concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in Sacred Heart Chapel at Saint Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, Minn. She will be joined by the monastic schola, directed by Sister Janine Mettling. The public is invited to attend this program, which centers around the theme of Mary.
The featured composition is “O Domina Nostra” by Polish composer Henryk Gorecki, written for the 600th anniversary of the Black Madonna in Poland. There will also be an art display of the Black Madonna pieces created by Sister Thomas Carey, a member of Saint Benedict’s Monastery from 1932 until her death in 1999. These works date back to the 1940s.
Lola, a St. Joseph native, studied organ with Benedictine Sisters Cecile Gertken and Dolores Super and has a graduate degree in organ performance and pedagogy from the University of Iowa. She currently lives in Seattle.
