The Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg are uniting with Leadership Conference for Women Religious (LCWR) to create a virtual space for contemplative prayer during the United States Republican and Democratic National Conventions, as well as the days surrounding the National Elections.
The Sisters have committed to maintaining a presence in this prayer space between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. daily during designated time frames through a broadcast at the Motherhouse. The space allows for deep prayer using a Zoom webinar format with a burning candle, contemplative music, and a prayer scrolling across the bottom of the screen. The Sisters may additionally join in on this Prayer Space on their electronic devices at any time of the day. They held the first vigil from July 15-18. Additional time frames will be held between August 19-22, and November 4-6, with availability 24 hours during that time.
The purpose of this space is to bridge the divide between culture, religion and politics through the commitment of women religious as they collectively contemplate and pray for our nation.
