Women religious in the Dubuque, Iowa, area are the prime sponsors of a bus wrap featuring a photo of a young girl to drive home a growing reality: “Not for Sale: Stop Human Trafficking.”
The wrapped bus will spread this message for the next year as it travels all the city routes. It is a follow-up to human trafficking awareness training sessions given to approximately 70 local bus drivers at the Jule Transit Company.

The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, Missouri, will host a Virtual Monastic Experience Nov. 19-21, 2021.
The experience will include a digital tour, meeting with our Sisters, tips on prayer and discernment, and one hour of daily input. There will be opportunities to connect with our vocation director one on one. The event is for single women, ages 18-40, who are interested in religious life.
The entire event will be online. Start times for each day are 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19; 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20; and 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21.

For over 40 years, Sr. Noreen Walsh, OP, has been a fierce advocate for healthcare, patient rights, and compassionate care.
In her ministry as Health Care Coordinator for the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, she has worked closely with geriatric patients in the hospital setting, home care setting, as well as tending to all of the health needs of her fellow sisters.

Victims of crime often find forgiveness too raw to reach; the sense of injustice outweighing the act of turning one’s cheek. For the perpetrator, the sense of injustice is equally strong; living in a world beyond one’s control, where societal standards hold no applicable meaning. The Dominican Volunteers USA (DVUSA) program has led many lay women and men to connect with Dominican congregations.
Through their program, DVUSA volunteers are matched with congregations and their ministry sites then assigned to live in community with them for 11 months. Together, these volunteers live out the Dominican mission through ministry, common life, prayer, and study.
“The Future of Catholic Universities and the Role of Liberal Arts in Higher Education Today,” will be the topic of a panel moderated by James Flynn, Ph.D., Chair of the Caldwell University Theology and Philosophy Department, 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21. Attendees can attend in-person or virtually.
The talk is one of a series of events to celebrate the installation of Matthew Whelan, Ed.D. as Caldwell’s ninth president.

On Sunday, October 10th, the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, Motherhouse Chapel was full of joy and love as Sisters and Associates came together to celebrate 14 Jubilarians.
Sr. Victoria Sloane celebrated 75 years of religious life, while Sisters Mary Margaret Gleeson, Patricia Horan, and Dominic Marie McDonnell celebrated 70 years.
The General Council of the Adrian Dominican Sisters issued the following statement on the treatment by the President Joseph Biden Administration on Haitian refugees at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Adrian Dominican Sisters join other religious leaders nationally in calling on the Biden Administration to immediately end deportation flights of Haitians seeking refuge at the U.S.-Mexico border. We are deeply distressed by images and reports of the inhumane treatment of Haitians at the border.

In March 2021, the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, launched the Hearts Afire Podcast.

Food security means having physical and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food at all times to meet dietary needs for a productive and healthy life. How does food insecurity lead to migration? What is the impact of climate change on food production and access? How is food security stratified across racial lines?
September marks Hunger Action Month, a time to raise awareness regarding the heartbreaking statistics that 42 million in the United States, including over 13 million children, are currently facing hunger.
This alarming number is one of the many reasons that the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Blauvelt, NY, and the team at Harmony Farm in Orange County, NY, a ministry site of the sisters, support several food pantries, including St. Margaret’s Guild in Middletown, NY, Newburgh Ministries in Newburgh, NY, and the Goshen Ecumenical Food Pantry in Goshen, NY.
