NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Jan. 20, 2026) The village of Sorokpara, located in the West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya, India, has a new chapel thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The project was implemented by Father Albert Thyrniang, the pastor of Mary Help of Christian Church.

The North American Vocation Team (NAVT) of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) invites young adults ages 18 and older to a monthly online evening prayer on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST (7 p.m. CST) via Zoom. Dates for evening prayer in the first half of 2026 are January 27, February 24, March 24, April 28, May 26 and June 23. NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Jan. 14, 2026) Salesian missionaries working in Lahore, Pakistan received donor funding for flood relief thanks to Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The funding helped support 800 people, most of whom are from large families with children and include women who are pregnant. Nearly 40% of the beneficiaries are under 16 years old.
More than 340 youth and their families will benefit.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Jan. 12, 2026) Salesians with Don Bosco Morobo in South Sudan* have a new Toyota Land Cruiser to facilitate mission work thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The primary goal of the new vehicle is to strengthen the pastoral outreach to remote areas of Don Bosco Morobo Parish.
The Season for Nonviolence marks the annual 64-day period between the memorial anniversary of the assassination of Mohandas K. Gandhi on January 30 and that of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on April 4. Co-founded in 1998 by Arun and Sunanda Gandhi, along with the Association for Global New Thought, the Season teaches that every person can move the world forward in the direction of peace through daily nonviolent choices and actions.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Jan. 7, 2026) Salesian missionaries in Kapesa, located in the Kazembe Mission in Zambia, have completed a new chapel thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Work included clearing the land and construction of the building, which is also equipped with a new water system.
Tractor improves productivity, generates income.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Jan. 6, 2026) Salesian missionaries were able to buy a tractor for the Nazareth Boarding House, located in Anisakan, Myanmar*, thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The donation is impacting 170 boys who are boarding there, 20 people who work on the farm and 15 staff working at the house.

Every year on Jan. 1, the Pope marks the day with a special message inviting all people to reflect on the important work of building peace. Pope Paul VI established the day in 1967. The day was first observed on Jan. 1, 1968.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Dec. 15, 2025) St. Jude Science and Technical College in Nigeria has been able to upgrade its water system thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The funding came from the Salesian Missions “Clean Water Initiative” and impacted 1,300 students, 70 staff and 350 youth from the community.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Dec. 10, 2025) Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and the international community in honoring Human Rights Day, celebrated each year on Dec. 10. Human Rights Day commemorates the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The weekend of November 13-16, 2025, was very special for two women’s religious communities in Ireland. At the invitation of the Benedictine Sisters of the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception at Kylemore Abbey in Connemara on Ireland’s west coast, 20 Presentation Sisters from around the country arrived for a combined retreat and gathering to renew friendships and explore future collaborations.
Project trained 66 animators and teachers across seven parishes.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Dec. 8, 2025) Salesian missionaries were able to train Pontifical Missionary Children animators and Sunday school teachers in Salesian parishes in Kenya, thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Through this project 66 animators and teachers were trained across seven parishes.
The Alliance To End Human Trafficking is inviting High school students across the United States to participate in a short video contest responding to the prompt: “What Would You Do?” to help prevent human trafficking.
These videos will highlight potential human trafficking scenarios chosen by the students, and result in raising awareness, educating, and empowering students and others on how to identify and prevent human trafficking. The video can be created by a group, an individual or a class and must be under 3 minutes in length.
Project supports more than 400 students during physical education classes and afterschool activities.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Dec. 1, 2025) Salesian missionaries with the Salesian Lyceum in Lviv, Ukraine were able to use donor funding to install a volleyball pitch thanks to funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The pitch was set up over the summer and ready for the start of the school semester in Sept. 2025.

The day is held to honor AIDS victims and focuses on prevention and treatment issues surrounding HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome).

The InterCongregational Collaborative Novitiate (ICCN) provides a quality novitiate experience with peers for novices from multiple congregations. Established in August 2021, the ICCN community in Chicago has hosted 17 participants from 12 congregations.
The next ICCN cohort will begin August 20, 2026. Over the course of the next 12 months, the ICCN will continue to evaluate and strengthen program components while engaging with congregations who are considering application to the ICCN for their candidates.
