In the synod on synodality, ostensibly convened to consider a "new way of being church," we're asked to imagine this can be done without considering women's equal and full participation. This is where I entered, and where I exit.

In nursing and in church, women's wisdom has been denigrated. But we are rising.

Perspective: Professional equity for nurses has yet to be achieved, but we are closer. But when I returned to the Catholic Church after many years, the altar remained resolutely male, unchanged in my absence.
