To my way of thinking, there is no higher honor for those of us who comment on Catholicism in the public square than to be singled out by LifeSiteNews as someone who is, in their view, doing the devil's work. That is the "Oscar" award to which all of us who aspire to be in the sanity caucus should aspire. So, this morning, I was delighted when a friend sent me think link to an article by Patrick Craine that names me a a culprit for pointing out that Papa Francesco seems to be singing from a different hymnal from that found in the chapel where Cardinal Burke, Archbishop Chaput and Archbishop Cordileone go to pray. The article also attacks Bishop Blase Cupich of Spokane, Washington because of comments he made at the USCCB meeting. It is an honor to share the stage, and an Oscar, with Bishop Cupich who is probably one of the smartest bishops in the country and a man of his convictions. And, in the event, +Cupich was only repeating what the Nuncio said the Holy Father had told him: No more ideologues or culture warriors as bishops!
