Catholic group leaves campus

The Catholic student group at Vanderbilt University is taking its group off campus after the school stepped up enforcement of its nondiscrimination policy, which says that student groups cannot require leaders of the group to hold certain religious beliefs, according to the story in The Tennessean.

Religious student groups have said they are fine with accepting members of different faiths or no faiths, but they have a problem when it comes to their leaders.

The school started to step up enforcement of the policy after a 2010 Supreme Court decision and after several gay students at Vanderbilt were asked to leave a religious fraternity, according to NPR.
