Helena diocese, nuns, victims to take sex abuse claims before mediator

It looks like The Helena, Mont., diocese, the Ursuline Sister of the Western Province, and 300 plaintiffs will enter mediation in to try to reach a settlement and avoid going to trial over allegations of child sex abuse.

The plaintiffs, many are Native Americas, say the diocese and the nuns knew or should have know  about the abuse of children, but covered it up instead of stopping it.

According to the Associated Press, the Ursulines are resisting having to appear before the mediator in Seattle for the week of April 15, claiming financial hardship and limited resources.
