Below is Pope Francis'  itinerary for today in Mexico, as reported by Catholic News Service. Times listed are local, which is also Central Standard Time in the US. All public events today will be in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas.

NCR Vatican Correspondent Joshua J. McElwee is traveling with the papal press corps. On the ground for NCR in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, is journalist J. Malcolm Garcia. Check here throughout the day for updates and live reporting.

Garcia sent this short dispatch about 8:30 this morning:

San Cristobal -- Lines now extending three to five miles began forming at 3 a.m. in a cold, fog-laced morning shrouding people like ghosts outside the municipal sports stadium.

Indigenous and non-indigenous alike put aside long held feelings of mistrust and together shouted, "Viva el papa!" and "Viva Jesus" and "We're all Catholic."
