Notre Dame panel on ethical investments

The University of Notre Dame in Indiana will hold a discussion March 27 at 7 p.m. EST regarding endowment and ethical investment practices grounded in Catholic social teaching.

The panel discussion will be in Geddes Hall on the university's campus.

According to a news release, the event "will focus on principles of Catholic Social Teaching as they relate to ethical investing and examine Notre Dame’s investment in HEI Hospitality in light of the growing number of accusations of labor violations against the private-equity hotelier."

Panel: Holy Cross Fr. Daniel Groody, associate professor of theology at Notre Dame; Teresa Ghilarducci, Bernard and Irene Schwartz Chair of Economic Policy Analysis and director of the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis at the New School for Social Research; and Naoko Shibusawa, associate professor of history and American studies and member of Advisory Committee on Corporate Responsibility in Investment Policies at Brown University. A worker from HEI Hospitality is expected.
