Greetings GSR Readers!
Since the launch of Global Sisters Report in April 2014, we have grown our audience and now reach truly across the globe. We have readers in countries all over the world and are always looking to increase our readership.
Now we have a new tool we hope will attract even more readers. At the top right of your screen, you'll notice a "Translate This Page" button, made possible through Google Translate.
Readers can now translate the home page, individual story pages and archived stories and columns by pressing the "Translate This Page" button. We know that the automated translation option won't be perfect. But, based on emails we receive, we also know readers have used Google Translate on their own to read Global Sisters Report. This feature will make it even easier to do that.
We have chosen 10 languages — the six official languages of the United Nations: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish; plus Portuguese, Italian, Swahili and Vietnamese. We chose the language options based on the United Nations languages and what we thought would be most appealing to readers based on our coverage and readership. If you think we should consider adding other languages, please let us know by emailing info@globalsistersreport.org.

We need help spreading the word about this new feature. If you know of a sister or associate whose English is limited and who would be interested in reading Global Sisters Report in another language, please let them know this option is now available. We'll also be doing some outreach and advertising in Catholic publications in other countries and languages.
We are also planning on starting a Spanish-language edition — GSR en Espanol — in coming months. That section will publish original content in Spanish by freelancers and sister columnists and selected content from our English edition that has been translated by human translators.
Our mission has always been to be "a dynamic online community that reports on and gives voice to women religious around the world." That mission remains — but now we have more languages to tell the stories about Catholic sisters and share the insightful, spiritually nourishing and so often delightful columns that they write for us. Enjoy!
