Katherine Mackenzie

Katherine Mackenzie is a creative educator and liturgical musician pursuing a career in museum education. While studying history and music at the Catholic University of America, she studied abroad in Rome and received the Zeender Prize for her thesis, "Nineteenth Century Indian Mission Schools and the Tensions Between American Catholics and Protestants.” She is excited to share her perspective as a Gen Z Catholic and continue to explore the unique cultural dynamics of American Catholicism.

At Catholic University of America, I got culture shock in my own religion

It felt like everyone else had a playbook that I was missing a page from. It was the same Mass, but with enough small differences to make me feel less Catholic than those around me.
