Mary Ann Cejka is a retired university provost residing in Western New York. A longtime activist and academic psychologist, she continues to research and write in the areas of peace studies, social justice, gender and religion.
The display is at the Poster House in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood until Sept. 7. The posters of the past are windows into history — and often, uncanny oracles of the present.
The murals serve as a reminder of the contrast between past and present. Less sanguinely, they also call attention to the ominous possibility that the past may not be wholly past.
