The Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in the United States and United Kingdom are uniting in a special six-month prayer and reflection process for elections taking place in both their countries and across the globe.  The daily election prayer, weekly intention, and reflection resources are available for download on a special page on the Congregation’s website: https://www.csjp.org/electionprayer.  The sisters invite others to join them in this effort.

Aug. 2-4, 2024 (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon)

This weekend of prayer to Our Eucharistic Lord and friendship with the Little Sisters of the Poor and those whom they serve is offered to single Catholic young women who desire to continue to build on the graces of the Eucharistic Revival in their lives. This special time together will be held in Queen Village, New York. There is no registration fee, and the Little Sisters are happy to provide transportation from the airport or train station to the event location.

Join the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati for a prayer service for National Gun Violence Awareness Month on Thursday, June 20. There will be two opportunities to pray together: an in-person prayer service from 6-6:30 p.m. ET in our Motherhouse Chapel (5900 Delhi Road, Mt. St. Joseph, OH 45051) and a virtual prayer service on Zoom from 8-8:30 p.m. ET. The prayer service was created by the national group Nuns Against Gun Violence.

During the Chapter of 2024 in March, sisters gathered to confirm a vision and directions for the next four years. A new leadership team was also elected: Sisters Laura Bregar, President, and Councilors Maureen Doyle, Maureen Grady, Kathleen Flannery and Gretchen Rodenfels. They were installed on June 8, 2024 and will serve until June 2028.

The Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell, New Jersey, recently recognized Catherine Mulroe and Maryann Schaeffer with the congregation’s 2024 Peace Award for their outstanding ministry to migrants, refugees, and those seeking asylum in collaboration with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark. The Peace Journalism Foundation of Uganda (PJF) is launching a special refugee reporting initiative this Thursday to raise awareness about refugee issues. The project is a special Multimedia coverage of refugees through one of PJF Media platform, ‘The Voice for Peace and Development (VPD)’.

During Chapter (governing sessions), held April 14-20, a four-member Leadership Team was elected by the Chapter body. New Team members are S. Maureen Irvin, Congregational Minister; S. Robbie Pentecost, First Councilor; S. Susan Marie Pleiss, Councilor; and S. Margaret Rahe, Councilor. The new General Council will be installed at a Liturgy on June 30, 2024.  Their term of office will extend until June 30, 2029.

Salesian programs help ensure children and youth are able to gain an education.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 12, 2024) Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and the international community in honoring World Day Against Child Labor. The day has been celebrated on June 12 since 2002, and it brings attention to the global extent of child labor and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it.

Twenty five years ago, Sisters of the Earth Community was co-founded by Passionists Thomas Berry, Gail Worcelo and lay associate Bernadette Bostwick. This is the first community of Catholic sisters in the history of religious life founded specifically for Earth Healing and Protection within the Ecozoic Era.

Ecozoic is a phrase coined by Thomas Berry and means; House of Life. It is an era where humans and the natural world go into the future as a Single Sacred Community.

What happens when the largest trash incinerator in the United States threatens the lives of a predominately low-income minority community? The community gathers with passion, creating a force to be reckoned with. This is what happened on April 20, 2024, when over 250 people came to march in solidarity for the city of Chester, Pennsylvania. The march was sponsored by Chester Residents for Quality Living (CRCQL). Those marching or caravaning included participants from near and far.

Sister Joan Pokorny and Sister Judith Bloxham, Benedictine Sisters of Mt. Angel, will celebrate their 60th Jubilee on Sunday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m. Eucharist.  Many family and friends will gather with the monastic community in the Queen of Angels Chapel, Mt. Angel, Oregon.  Both sisters have lived full lives of ministries to the Church and beyond.

The day will focus on land restoration and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.”
