Benedict for Everyone: Reading the Rule of Benedict in the Modern World
Six Weekly Sessions, beginning February 10, 2024
1:00-2:30 PM (Pacific Time)
In this six-part series, participants will explore how people who do not belong to monasteries can read the Rule of Benedict and apply it to their life in the “world.” Benedict’s “rule” is a guidebook for seeking a life centered on God and is easily adaptable to modern people. Together we will learn how to understand and apply Benedict’s transformative wisdom in our lives.

All are welcome to begin 2024 journeying together during the Franciscan Federation’s online retreat designed to inspire, connect, and transform. The event is Jan. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. EST and repeats on Feb. 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. EST (both via Zoom).

After years of work and study, the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville have signed documents creating an agricultural conservation easement on 10.4 acres of our motherhouse property in partnership with the Peconic Land Trust. This action will preserve this portion of the land from development in perpetuity. Two quotes can help us understand the motivation behind this action. In 2001 the Congregation approved a statement entitled a Land Ethic.

The Benedictine Sisters of the Monastery of St. Gertrude, Cottonwood, Idaho, wish to announce the election of their new prioress, Sister Teresa Jackson, OSB.
On November 4, 2023 the North American Eastern Province and the Western Region of the Sisters of Christian Charity united to form one entity: The Sisters of Christian Charity of North America. The Motherhouse is located in Mendham, NJ and the Provincial Superior is Sister Joann Marie Aumand, SCC.
Sisters of Christian Charity have current ministries in New Jersey, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. In addition, they minister in the Philippines, Germany, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina.
Over the past 160+ years, our congregation, Sisters of the Presentation, and our ministries have evolved. In the early years, most of our Sisters were engaged in the ministry of education, but the call of Vatican II invited us to extend our reach beyond the classroom and to minister in a manner which reflects the spirit and charism of our foundress, Venerable Nano Nagle.
The 10th Annual Nun Run 5K, 1-Mile, and Community Service Fair will be held on February 3, 2024 at La Reina High School & Middle School in Thousand Oaks. The proceeds benefit local and global outreach including: the homeless, immigrants, human trafficking survivors, and recipients of our healthcare and eldercare services.
